Everyone you come across will have their own version of what constitutes an ideal life.
We are all dealt a hand at birth and shaped by our environments and surroundings growing up. We go through experiences and get initial perspectives on the possibilities out there in the world.
We interact with different people and hear countless stories over the course of years stored in our subconscious minds. Tales of others who have reached the heights (and the depths) of success (and failure) in every conceivable endeavour throughout history.
In general, you can say that most people would want to be healthy, wealthy and powerful if given the choice.
Even more so, you can say they want to be free to do whatever they like at any given moment.
The specifics of what this ideal looks like might differ for each person but the overall sentiment seems to hold true in most cases.
The problem arises when it becomes evident that getting what we want requires some form of extra work or sacrifice. Pair that with the ease of cheap, endless distractions at our fingertips and the urge to push the limits a little further becomes non existent.
The uncertainty leaves us in a state of self induced paralysis. The fire has gone out. We don’t think it’s worth it to step into the arena for a potential shot at victory.
The cruel thing about this scenario is that the time passes anyway. Days, months and years go by. We continue stacking on the wrong burdens. Staying stuck in the same habits and cycles.
Without the ability to step back and align our actions with our vision, it becomes extremely difficult to generate the traction necessary to put ourselves in a better position.
This time of year is great to recalibrate and double down on what has been working as well as taking the initiative to cut out what hasn’t.
