In a world where everyone is trying to sell you a new type of supplement or fitness item, you’ll be happy to know that there are still a few things you can do, for free, to give you more energy. This article will cover three basic things you can implement on a daily basis, even simultaneously, to give you more energy without costing anything but some time and awareness.
Sunlight:
The sun gets demonized quite a bit but the reality is that exposure to sunlight is a great way to relax and energize the body. Something about a sunset or sunrise that awakens a primal force inside of us. An incredible ball of energy that lights up the world and gives off power to be absorbed and channeled.
People who live in countries with harsher winters can attest to the effects caused by the sun’s absence. Moods go down in general. There seems to be a longing for warmer and brighter days all throughout the colder months. Even when it’s freezing cold, if the sun is shining it gives a certain sense of joy and energy to the day.
This doesn’t mean you should sit around tanning for 12 hours daily but go outside and incorporate being in the sun as much as you can. Train outdoors, work outdoors, walk around in nature and absorb the powerful energy the sun emits when it’s shining.
Breathing:
Breathing is something that almost goes unnoticed for how monotonous and automatic it can be to those unaware of its power. From the moment we’re born, we seem to just start breathing on command. Nobody really teaches people how to breathe in a way that can keep their mood and energy levels high and consistent.
By breathing through your nose as much as possible, you will begin to feel more calm and focused throughout the day. Keep it simple and be aware of the instances when you might just switch back and forth. Try to catch yourself and restart. At a certain point it will become your default method of breathing, leaving the mouth for talking and eating.
From a biological perspective having a backup option, the mouth in this case, makes a lot of sense. Breathing is our most crucial function. We can’t go more than a few minutes without it. The problem is most people just defer to breathing through their mouths and breathing very shallow at all times. Taking deep breaths through your nose by default will help your brain and body function smoother and make better use of a free resource you need to inhale anyway. Don’t underestimate using breath to enhance your life.
Movement and Fasting:
The body seems to expend a lot of energy digesting which can translate into forms of sluggish and lethargic behaviour. By starting to incorporate even small amounts of fasting, we let our body focus on cleaning and regenerating itself at a much quicker and more efficient pace. Fasting helps regulate every different function in our body and turns it into a well oiled machine. Many cases of benefits, not only physical, but mental and spiritual as well.
Movement can encompass things from walking around and performing simple functions to training a martial art or other forms of intense exercise. There is much to talk about with movement, but getting as much as you can, as frequent as you can, while upping the intensity and form of training will have unlimited benefits on your body, mind and spirit. Free suggestions can be simple things like walks in nature, sprints or pushups.
When these two things are paired together you will feel a sharper connection between the mind and body. It’s as if the hunger, even from something as simple as skipping breakfast, makes it easier to propel yourself into action. Doing tasks becomes easier. There even seems to be more energy when exercising when you are less full and more in tune. The body can focus on the hunt instead of immediate gratification and digestion.
Much more to be said on each of these topics in the future and we should be grateful to still have some free ways to get healthy in a world that seems to charge for anything.
Use the tools available to you and build up your health no matter what level you may be at. Hard to make excuses with these kinds of resources available.
Nature has a funny way of bringing us back to reality.
