Addition and subtraction over time.
There are some things that we’ll never know or understand in this lifetime. Some questions that will remain unanswered regardless of how hard we dig for solutions. There are some characteristics we were born with and patterns that were engrained before we had the opportunity to consciously analyze them. Each of us moving through the world with our own unique set of experiences. As the years go by, we get a better sense of what has stuck around and what has left for better or for worse. Some spend decades repeating the same mistakes while others learn to refine their systems and get sharper. If we pay close attention, there are signs that tell us to follow a certain path or to let go of something that no longer serves us. These momentary choices compound over time.
Different people are fulfilled by different things. Perspectives differ depending on who you’re speaking to. One person’s hero is another person’s villain. With the sheer volume of information we come across on a daily basis, it’s important to focus on what matters to each of us personally and work from there. It’s nice to want to change the world but scrolling and complaining about forces outside of your control instead of taking action and making an impact on your own environment is a surefire way to feel hopeless and trapped. Think about what you already know and what you’d like your life to look like on a daily basis. Make the initial changes necessary and start seeing the effects that new patterns and habits have on your life quality overall.
There’s no “one size fits all” formula out there. Different strategies and patterns will benefit different people in different ways. It’s up to us to find the right blueprint for our own situations. It helps to really dive deep into our imaginations to figure out what we really want to pursue. Once the picture starts being painted in our minds, it’s important to start taking action on the ideas and knowledge that we currently have at our disposal. What can be eliminated to carve out more time and energy? What can be added to gain better results in what areas? Everyone has their own set of habits and dreams. Start by thinking in a more general sense about what areas you can improve in and then get more specific as you begin to take action and receive feedback from reality.
Have faith in the blueprint.
It helps to understand that life is an ongoing process. Even if we manage to exceed our expectations and hit our targets faster than expected, there’s always another move to make. We can be in the best shape of our lives with a lot of money, work we are passionate about and great relationships but time can’t be frozen in moments of glory forever. We have to wake up to another day and decide what to do next whether we’re at rock bottom or the top of the mountain. The seconds will tick on regardless and the energy will continue to flow.
Identify the broader areas that need improvement and try to construct a plan that makes everything better overall. There are an infinite number of ways to get in better shape, make more money and have great relationships but we’ll never know which resonate with us the most until we take those initial steps forward. Outside forces and chance will constantly play a role in the fabric of life no matter how scheduled and organized we might be. Accept this, take the risk to get where you want to go anyways and let the chips fall where they may.
Getting a good grasp of our own personal characteristics and tendencies and being honest with where we want to go can help us focus on what actually matters moving forward. We have to be able to wake up everyday and find meaning in the things we fill our time with and use our energy doing.
Expend energy on the right areas to gain experience.
We only have a certain amount of gas in the tank. It would be great to become a master at every single subject the world has to offer but the reality is we’re capped in certain ways. This is why it serves to look at the bigger picture and focus on becoming great in a few different areas that make us better overall. Start with the basics and take a look at your life through a physical, mental and spiritual lens. Can you improve your health and get stronger? Can you get sharper, wiser and more skilled? Can you believe in something bigger than yourself that drives you forward each and every day?
Once we start taking initial action and gaining feedback the specifics begin to sort themselves out. Instead of trying to rigidly control everything, get creative and flow with moments as they arise. Being at the right place at the right time or sparking up the right conversation out of the blue can result in life altering consequences, for better or for worse. Without this element of risk and chance constantly floating behind the scenes, life would be extremely dull.
Learn by doing. Clarify the vision. Take action. Gain knowledge and new insights from stepping into the arena. Come back stronger and smarter while continuing forward on the journey and building a life that you love living.
Enjoy the ride.
