Leverage the current position.
Each circumstance presents a new opportunity to step in the right direction. With every passing moment, there’s a chance to turn the tides. Where we are now and what we’re currently doing will impact the future trajectory of our lives. The choices are almost endless if we really think outside the box. Some actions can land us in deep trouble, others can have us soaring to new heights in record time. Imagination plays an important role but if we spend too much time daydreaming instead of putting the pieces together, the vision will never end up coming to life.
It’s easy to get caught up thinking what could be or what could’ve been. Instead of trying to get from A-Z in one step, look at what can be done now to get to the next level. What areas are the most important? What has to be done on a daily basis? What tools are currently available? Many different questions can be asked in order to begin making moves in the right direction. Focusing on the task at hand and delivering to the best of our abilities will create the right momentum moving forward. Do the things you choose to do well. Make it so that combination of skills improves life overall. Get into a better position with what’s currently available and work your way up towards bigger wins as time goes on.
Understanding the impact of environment and relationships on success is crucial. Being in certain places and knowing certain people can unlock incredible opportunities. When these things seem lacking it’s important to go out and make them happen. Avoid fearing the unknown and understand that once we start walking the path, more answers are given. Even if things aren’t clear at first, staying in motion and refining systems along the way will open up new ideas and pathways. Think about ways to improve physically, mentally and spiritually. Apply these ideas in real time and put in the volume required to start seeing progress. Once some initial results appear, new possibilities appear with them. Dots start to connect and we gain more wisdom and experience that can be used to make even better moves in the future. There’s always time to get on the right track.
Take a look at the bigger picture.
We’re only given so much time and energy in this world. What we choose to do with it determines the course of our lives. Split second decisions that can change things for better or worse. It’s impossible to account for every interference from outside forces beyond our control. Life isn’t cut and dry. Memories from years past that we can recall in an instant are etched into our minds while others rest dormant, seemingly not important enough to merit further reflection. We sometimes underestimate the impact of each choice given to us. Things can seem bleak in the moment but if we’re on the lookout for opportunity and actively trying to make connections, it’s much easier to gain traction.
We live in a time now where it’s easy to substitute having purpose with synthetic sources of pleasure. Instead of trying to build a project or learn new skills which might take months or maybe years to see decent results, most mentally take themselves out of the game before ever physically attempting any action. The problem is that there’s rarely any true fulfillment in denying our own spirit. Blocking out possibilities before giving them an honest chance to take shape is a sure fire way to program the mind into seeing the worst in things at every turn. Opening up the right lanes of perception and understanding the scope of mobility available out there can grant us incredible opportunities. Doing the right things in the short term will help that long term ideal come to life. Taking risks and going above and beyond to push the outer limits will open many doors. Sow more seeds in the moment for a chance to reap a bigger harvest down the line.
Understand the difference between the image somebody is portraying and the reality of the daily life they are leading. We might watch movies and hear stories about characters who seem like they’re living on cloud nine at all times but we have to ask ourselves what the best circumstances would be for our own actual situation. Determining whether we’re doing things for a reason or just to gain a false sense of validation from others is a key component to figuring out if we’re heading in the right direction. At the end of the day, we have to wake up and lead our own lives. Seek guidance from the right sources and take bits and pieces that will help you create your own vision. Keep that image in mind at all times and do what has to be done in the moment to take things to the next level and beyond.
Get better at the things that matter.
Everyone will have a different set of values and aspirations based on a variety of reasons. The sooner we can set our sights on an initial target, the easier it is to see the path forward. Last year I decided that I wanted to get in better shape, improve my sales skills and start my own writing project. After contemplating some options I joined a local kickboxing gym, found a few cold calling gigs through networks I had joined and started posting content on social media while creating this newsletter. Taking these steps has helped me tremendously so far. I realized that even though I felt fairly comfortable, my time and energy would be of much better use if I put effort into things that could push me forward.
No matter what you might be interested in or talented at, there’s always a way to start getting the most out of life and living your own way. It might seem difficult because we tend to harp on what can go wrong as opposed to what could go right. Instead of letting your mind shut out possibilities, look at the board in front of you and decide where to move the pieces to get to a better position. Everyone has certain strengths and tools at their disposal. The key is building momentum in the moment while working towards the future vision. It’ll take some creativity and experience to find the right formula but it’s more than possible when focus is concentrated on the areas that matter.
Having faith in the mission is crucial. Things won’t always go according to plan and they’ll never be perfect. Learning how to adapt and look on the bright side when confronted with challenges is an important piece of the puzzle for anyone pursuing anything worthwhile.
Keep firing shots and making things happen until the time runs out.
Live with a purpose.
Enjoy the ride.
