Blueprints and Detours
How To Develop Basic Systems
Visualize the endgame.
One of the most important aspects to getting what you want in life is actually knowing what it is that you want in the first place. Without that clear picture in mind of who you want to be and where you want to go, it’s much easier to remain lost and scattered over time. Life is an ongoing process where more is revealed through various experiences that shape our views over days, months and years. The current times we live in provide an abundance of information that gets balanced out by an abundance of distraction. Synchronizing beliefs, thoughts and actions helps to keep things congruent and aligned with the mission at hand.
The general key areas that people desire success in are usually health, wealth and relationships. Those provide solid starting points to dig deeper into specific categories that pertain more to you as a person and how you like to do things. There are many ways to make money, there are many ways to get in shape and there are many ways to meet different people. The beauty of life is that once you start getting feedback from reality and refining your own systems, you can spend more time and energy on things that truly drive you.
To get some ideas on how to begin, here are some questions:
-What would you like to accomplish in this lifetime?
-What does an ideal day look like to you?
-Who do you want in your life?
-How do you want to spend your time and energy?
There are a variety of different avenues to go down but the first task is to start forming a clear picture of where you want to steer the ship from you current starting point. It’s obviously ideal to focus on things that truly drive you. This may not be an immediate reality with your current situation but eventually things will get to a point where you can make it happen. Enjoy what you’re currently doing or at least enjoy the reward and the opportunity it provides you with to move forward and work on things that matter to your mission. It’s much easier to become skilled and successful in something you are talented at and passionate about. The closer you can get to synchronizing these attributes with practical systems that allow you to live on your own terms, the closer you get to feeling content and fulfilled with your life. Focus on what’s directly in front of you in the meantime and start doing what you can with what you have to get where you want to go.
Set the standard.
Many patterns and habits have been ingrained in us throughout the years. Some good and some bad. Some conscious and some unconscious. Take account of your life and each area that you desire to improve in. Try to get a sense of things that you are currently doing that might be holding you back. Be honest with yourself and determine if your genuine beliefs align with your thoughts and actions.
Are you where you want to be?
Start by subtracting the dead weight. First, look in the mirror before tackling your environments and relationships. Take a neutral look at your patterns and habits. Figure out what purpose each is serving and determine if it’s really necessary to move forward with along the path. We may have many distorted perceptions clouding judgement that have to be sorted as things become more clear. Even if there seems to be too much of a mess to tackle, each piece thats discarded begins to clear up the way forward. Once there is a cleaner slate to work with, work on solidifying basic foundations and starting the process of addition. Now that you have a clearer path forward with more wisdom and experience, what can be added to make things run smoother and more efficient? What are things that you’ve always wanted to work on but haven’t had the time or energy? How can you do more of the things that are bringing great results already? There are many different ways systems can be tested and refined when built on solid foundations. See what works best for your life by gaining more knowledge and experience as the years go on.
Once a blueprint is made, it’s important to understand the value of repetition and volume, especially in the beginning stages when foundations are being built. Theory is great. The better your plan, the faster you should get results. The problem is that without putting things into practice, even the best plans will automatically fail. Nothing will ever be perfect so it’s ideal to get things going immediately. Reality will provide feedback and insights as you progress through the motions.
In the initial stages, it’s extremely important to show up and do the things you said you would at the times you would do them even if you are struggling or failing. Exposing yourself to new challenges, environments and networks is crucial. Without these experiences it’s virtually impossible to get feedback from reality to progress forward in the right direction. There’s definitely going to be many things you might try throughout life that you genuinely don’t like but quitting everything too early guarantees failure.
Build a runway of momentum so that when it’s time you’re ready to take off and learn at an accelerated pace. Things like talent also matter very little without volume and repetition. It’s also very difficult to determine any true levels of talent before basic foundations are developed in a skill or subject. That’s why when you have a solid grasp of the initial blueprint it’s important to see things through as you said you would to develop levels of competency that bleed into not only what you’re doing, but others areas of life as well. Everything is connected. Have a standard for yourself no matter what is going on.
Adapt and refine.
Circumstances and conditions are guaranteed to change over time no matter what state we currently find ourselves in. For better or for worse, change is inevitable. There are times where things seem like they can’t get any worse and we’re granted a golden opportunity. There are times where things seem like they can’t be better and we’re dealt a massive tragedy. Each day presents different combinations and variations of how we feel internally and in our lives and how we’re affected by our environments and outside forces beyond our control. The key is to strike a balance between steering the ship in the right direction through our beliefs, thought and actions while being able to push through any obstacles that may come our way during the course of the journey.
The ability to adapt becomes a skill in itself once we’re on the way to building basic foundations in the key areas through volume and repetition. Some of the greatest insights come from moments where we might’ve felt that a challenge was too great but through attempting it anyway we gained experience and knowledge that opened up new avenues of opportunity. This is where boldness comes in. Pushing things forward is always better than cowering away and taking yourself out of the game before you’ve met any real resistance. Reality will give feedback that helps understand what level we may currently be at compared to where we want to be.
Bridging this gap comes with the continuous cycle of action, feedback, adaption and refinement over time. Everyone will have their own strengths, talents, style and interests. It’s great to have information, theories and advice to work with from other successful figures but we have to develop our own way of doing things through experience and refinement of beliefs and systems. We are living in some of the most remarkable times in history and it’s never been easier to build a life that you love living. Believe that great things are always happening and reality will trend in that direction over time. Eliminate worry and fear. Have faith in the process. Trust in God. Complete the mission.
Keep it moving.
